SIBLINGS 48: SECOND HARI RAYA

Due to budget and health constrains, we decided not to have an open house for this 1430 Aidlfitri. However we have got to prepare special dishes for Nana who would be coming back on the second day of Raya. Since Syun and his families would also be in Alor Setar on the first day of Raya, we would have to take that factor into consideration. We would also be relieving Mek Tet’s workload in preparing food at her house which would become the centre of Raya activities as long as Syun was in town.

Apart from that, we have got to cater for Zam’s MADA Chinese colleagues who would definitely come to our house for Raya celebration which they have been doing for the last forty years. We would also reciprocate during the Chinese New Year for the last forty years.

So Zam decided to have our mini Raya open house on the second day of Raya without any official invitation being given out. We were confident that our traditional guests would come to our house even without any invitation. Sure enough, on the second day of Raya we received Raya guests beyond our imagination. Alhamdulillah.

Kak Teh and her children were the first guests that arrived at 12.00 p.m.

Since our settee has lost its loftiness, Zam joked with Kak Teh whether there is a possiblity of having Kak Teh's discarded branded settee.

By the look of the jovial expression of Kak Teh and the rest of her family members, it seemed that the answer was in the affirmative mode

It was really a surprise for me on the arrival of Ami In and his family which was indeed my maternal uncle's first raya visit to my house.
I was made to understand that my own sister, Norlia and her family did came to my house but they turned back thinking that we have an open raya house without inviting them. What an absurd thought?

From right seated: Yan, Ami In and Yah

Another surprise for me was the arrival of Yong, my in law all the way up from Ipoh. We did have a fruitful discussion about the Miracle of Water

Farewell and with the blessing of Allah, we hope to see you in 1431

  1. I,m sorry for this comment. But this is the truth. Norlia family was taken aback about your article. They turned back with a reason. Her entire family doesn't wanted to bother your 'open house', which they thought, it was held inter-personally for your friends as well. She might be sad if she read yours 'ABSURD' in the article.
