There were two other siblings of my late maternal grand father, Syed Hassan bin Syed Ahmad. There were the late Syed Alwi dan the late Sharifah Som. My grand uncle, Syed Alwi settled down in Kampung Hutan Setali whereas my grand auntie, Sharifah Som settled down in Kampung Ketol when she married Ku Hassan. The late Sharifah Som has five children namely Ku Ropeah, Ku Jamjam, Ku Zaharah, Ku Saad and Ku Puteh. As on the 1st. February 2012, three out of the five siblings has passed away namely Ku Jamjam, Ku Zaharah and Ku Saad.
On Friday, 3rd. February 2012 @ 10 Rabiulawal 1433, Zam and I attended a feast hosted by Mohd. Noor the son of Ku Jamjam at Kampong Ketol in commemorating the Maulidur Rasul. Ku Jamjam has passed away last year while her husband Pak Ngah Lateh is still alive. At the feast, I met the youngest of siblings namely Ngda Ku Puteh who has joined my table during the feast. I did not realized that it would be my last encounter with Ngda Ku Puteh and she passed away the next Friday and was laid to rest at Kampung Raja Cemetery, Tunjang.
With the demise of Ngda Ku Puteh, the only survivor from Tok Wa Som’s descendants is only Mak Long Ku Ropeah. On the other hand, my maternal uncle, Syed Ibrahim is the only survivor from Syed Hassan’s family. Whereas from the Syed Alwi’s family, there are still two survivors namely Sharifah Su who is residing Tambun Tulang, Perlis and and Sharifah Ma who is residing in Bangi, Selangor.
